Milestone Growth Fund Founder Esperanza Guerrero-Anderson Honored for Support of Minority Businesses and Communities MINNEAPOLIS, MN (June 21, 2004)—Esperanza Guerrero-Anderson, President and CEO of Milestone Growth Fund, the community-based venture capital fund created to facilitate and accelerate the formation of capital in ethnic minority businesses throughout Minnesota, has been recognized with two awards for her steadfast and impacting work with minority business owners: the 2004 Supporter of the Hispanic Community Award and the 2004 Business Journal Minority Business Advocate Award. Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty recognized Guerrero-Anderson
with the Supporter of the Hispanic Community Award in May.
Guerrero-Anderson is the first recipient of this award.
She was recognized for her outstanding efforts in assisting
and expanding the Minnesota Multicultural Business Community
through Milestone Growth Fund and for her vision and commitment
to raising the stature of Hispanic women in business. Milestone Growth Fund is the only Minnesota venture capital fund is focused on providing equity-type financing to minority-owned companies. It fills a gap in funding ethnic minority businesses by providing financing that is either too risky for bank or too small for other venture capital firms. Since 1990, Milestone has helped 63 such companies with investments totaling more than $21 million.
